We are tracking our stats. Glad to see we have a lot of folks viewing our site from the east coast all the way to the west. Hopefully we can go worldwide one day.. isn't that where Hip Hop is right now? Most viewers on this site have embraced Google Chrome as the browser of choice to view this page on. Fab because it loads the fastest that way ;-) 90% of viewers are directly from Twitter. As Twitter begins to grow, we will grow.

We will be giving away the Twilight DVD to our 1,000th follower on Twitter! Now we cant follow you all, but we would like you to follow us because when we randomly ask you questions you'll know and be able to answer back in order to win prizes.

We just launched on Monday and before launch, people have came to this site to show us some love. They replied to either the poll on the side of the page or from the poll from the first post, or both. We would like to hear from you.

But as the music business is coming to understand, the ancient model of the touring troubadour may turn out to be the 21st-century model for a working musician’s livelihood.
-By JON PARELES ---  A Full House for Bands and Fans at SXSW

This was quoted in a March 20th article posted in the NYT.

Notes- Most artist will make money by either touring, merchandising, publishing, sponsorships or licensing. The CD sales will continue to go down and artist will break out by giving their music away for free and begging to play anywhere, that hungry dedication to 'just be heard'.

What started as a social experiment may just turn into a social phenomenon. People love giving feedback and winning prizes, so this whole interactivity thing may just be a win/win. In our last blog post, we mentioned a way to answer the questions and to submit questions of your own. After criticism and constructive feedback, we have decided to take away the method that a question must be answered. Answer it any way you'd like :-) without the age/sex/location or the #HHAAns tag. It'll be helpful for us but if you don't have the space or time, don't do it. A must is to do a @HipHopQandA, reply so that we will know you answered the question (the only true way of knowing ;-))

HIP HOP Q&A - Twitter #hashtag codes - A Must Read!

We are now on Twitter - Follow Us On Twitter

We wanted to build a system that would make it easy for you to respond with your answers to our Hip Hop questions. You'd be able to post your answers now through Twitter. The blog won't be completely useless because here you'll be able to read articles, enter additional contest and sign up for TweetUp competitions.

How To's

To Answer a Hip Hop Question

@HipHopQandA + Age/Sex/Location + Answer to Question + tag - #HHAAns

Ex. If I asked a question like "When did you fall in love w/ Hip Hop?"
An acceptable answer would read like this..

@HipHopQandA 23/m/bk I fell in love with Hip Hop when I 1st heard Tupac's Dear Mama it touched my soul,since then ive been a fan! #HHAAns

To Submit a Hip Hop Question you'd like us to ask everyone

@HipHopQandA + Ask A Question + tag - #HHAQuest

@HipHopQandA Who is your favorite rapper? #HHAQuest

When we search for #HHAQuest in Twitter Search we will see your question and if it meets our submission guidelines it may have the chance of being published. You will get some credit of course.

Will the Major Record Companies Die Out Around 2011?

Last week I read an article by TechCrunch predicting how they think music will be distributed in a few years. The insight was given by industry execs. While I think that some of it is true, I think it'll take another decade to get rid of the CD format. Being that its a physical product being sold, big companies will always be able to mass produce and sell it to the consumer. This will enable the big music company and maybe the artist to make some kind of money - 10 years down the line its possible that the Compact Disc will be obsolete but not any time soon. What do you think?
